MUNGO NATIONAL PARK, ARKAROOLA - WILPENA POUND

AND MILDURA

FLYING – HOUSEBOAT ADVENTURE

7 Nights and 8 Days

Flight times are only approximate as on the day they will change depending on tail or head winds. Departures are all morning departures as it is the best time of the day to fly.

Day 1

Depart Archerfield/Stanthorpe at 8.30 am for a scenic flight to Bourke where we fly over the magic cotton fields of Moree, Goondiwindi and Bourke. Flight time 2.3 hours.

Stu's Bus tour of the town of Bourke at 2.00pm – 5.30 pm . This tour takes us through high tech citrus and grape farms, irrigation and cotton farms with large water storage Joboba and Pera Bore. Gain an insight into the history and heritage buildings of Bourke.

Day 2

Depart Bourke at 8.30 am for a scenic flight following the Darling River down to Menindee on route to Broken Hill. Flight time 2 hours.

Arriving in time to check out the Town of Broken Hill with a half day tour which takes us to Silverton, situated 30 klms from Broken Hill where once this was a busy mining town. We also see the city sights of Broken Hill.

Enjoy and witness a memorable outback sunset at Broken Hill.

Day 3

Depart Broken Hill at 8.30am and fly to Arkaroola, Flight time 1.1 hours. We will be picked up by bus from the airport at Balcanoona and taken to Arkaroola. 45 minute Drive.

At 1.00 pm - Ridge top Tour. This is Arkaroola signature 4wd tour, an unforgettable encounter with the timeless terrain and unique natural beauty of Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary

Ridge top passengers are taken on a guided tour of some of the most spectacularly rugged country on earth. Trained tour guides share their knowledge of Arkaroola 1600 million year geological history. Inspiring images of red granite mountains and golden spinifex covered hillsides give way to a breath taking view across the Feeling Heights, Lake Frome and the desert beyond.

Day 4

At 8.00am we will depart Arkaroola by bus and driven back to Balcanoona Air Strip where we will depart for a beautiful scenic flight over the Flinders Range, Wilpena Pound and where you will see Lake Frome, Lake Torrens on route to Mildura. Flight time 1.5 hours..

After refueling at Mildura we travel by vehicle to go shopping down town for supplies for our wonderful 3 nights and 4 days House Boat adventure down the Murray River where we cruise the Mighty Murray River in style and comfort with ensuited rooms. We stop along the way to visit local Wineries and towns.

Day 7

Depart Mildura for Mungo National Park, Flight time 30 minutes.

The remainder of the day we have a bus tour of this famous area at Mungo National Park where you will see Mungo"s distinctive lunette landscapes are the resting place of many Aboriginal ancestors. Its here where in the iroding sidiment that the 42000 year old remainsof Mungo Landy and Mungo Man were found.

Sleep under the wonderful dark skies with an abundance of stars. ( in your comfortable accommodation ).

Day 8

Depart Mungo National Park at 8.00am for Cobar, morning tea and refuel. Flight time 1.2 hours. Depart Cobar for Moree, go into town for lunch, refuel Flight time 1.5 hours.

Depart Moree for Archerfield/Stanthrope Flight time 1.2 hours.
